FireplaceIQ (“we”, “us”) publishes fireplace cost guides, comparisons, and calculators at fireplaceiq.com. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and what choices you have.
What we collect
Nothing you don’t give us or that your browser doesn’t send. In practice that means:
- Usage data. Pages visited, time on page, browser type, device, and approximate location (city level). Collected through Google Analytics 4. We use it to see which articles help people and which need work.
- Contact form data. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you type. We use it only to reply.
- Email signups. If you request a downloadable checklist or join the email list, we store the email address you provide with our email provider. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell personal information. We do not run accounts, so there are no passwords or profiles here.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for three things: analytics, advertising, and crediting affiliate referrals. When required by your location, a consent banner asks before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We show ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you ads based on your browsing history.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and at www.aboutads.info/choices.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may set a cookie so we receive a commission. This does not change the price you pay. Details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
GA4 collects the usage data described above. IP addresses are not logged or stored by GA4. You can block analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Who we share data with
- Google (Analytics and AdSense), as described above
- Our email provider, if you sign up for the list
- Nobody else, unless the law requires it
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU under GDPR and California under CCPA), you can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email us at hello@fireplaceiq.com and we will handle it within 30 days. We honor Global Privacy Control signals for visitors in regions where it applies.
Children
This site is written for adults making home heating decisions. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with an updated effective date.
